The Digital Legion are a European gaming community, clan, and New Conglomerate outfit in Planetside 2. Under their former name, The 58th Marine Corp (Wildcards), the Digital Legion were one of the largest, most successful and organized outfits in the original Planetside. Having played numerous games in the years since, they have returned to Planetside 2 and begun a recruitment drive. The Digital Legion are also one of the founding members of the New Conglomerate Treaty Orginisation (NCTO) on Miller, helping to bring NC outfits together for increased co-operation and combined operations.
Predominantly British, with a sizable Swedish contingent among other nationalities, Digital Legion members tend to be in their twenties and thirties although there are several younger members.

[edit] History
Founded on June 4th 2003 in the original Planetside under the name The 58th Marine Corp (The Wildcards), they fought for the New Conglomerate on the Werner server. As an outfit the 58th experienced great success; having one of the most organised and skilled player bases in the game.
The 58th regularly organized armour columns, air raids, and MAX crashes, but their bread and butter was hot-drop gen busting and command console captures.
Since leaving the original Planetside the outfit has changed its name to the Digital Legion and played numerous games competitively and as a community including Counterstrike, Battlefield 2, Team Fortress 2, Red Orchestra, Left 4 Dead, Bad Company 2, Medal of Honor, Battlefield 3, League of Legends, Dawn of the Ancients 2, World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Guild Wars 2.
[edit] New Conglomerate Werner Alliance (NCWA)
At their peak they were a leading force in the formation and management of the New Conglomerate Werner Alliance (NCWA) that coordinated the actions of organized outfits on the server and direct the zerg.
[edit] PC Gamer
In 2004 an article in PC Gamer magazine featured a journalist who joined the 58th Marine Corp, gaining the outfit great publicity.
[edit] Extra Life
In October 2011 a group of Digital Legion members participated in sponsored 24 hour gaming event Extra Life to benefit the Children’s Miracle hospital network. A second event took place in October 2012.
[edit] PlanetSide 2
With the release of the Planetside 2 tech test in July 2012, and the beta test in August 2012, the Digital Legion have returned to Auraxis and begun a new recruitment drive to complement veteran 58th players with new blood.
[edit] Outfit Structure
The Digital Legion itself has several sections each devoted to a different game. Currently the four main sections are Planetside 2, Battlefield 3, League of Legends and Guild Wars 2 - although many other games are played on a frequent basis by our members. Whilst each section has its own leadership, members recruited into one any game are considered full members and are free to play with and be a part of all other sections.
The Digital Legion is lead by Vegas (formerly Endzone) while the Planetside 2 section and outfit is commanded by Vultan (formerly Grendel) with a team of officers.

[edit] Recruitment
The Digital Legion is actively recruiting. To gain membership to the Digital Legion, prospects must first make an application post on the DL forums. After an initial vetting, and if not rejected, they are accepted as a trialist for a period of weeks. During this time they will have access to voice communications and play in DL squads with DL members as if they were a full member, and also gain full forum access. Outfit leadership discuss and vote on each trialist, accepting, rejecting, or deferring their application.
Full membership ensures that one cannot be kicked from the outfit without due process, gives the right to lead squads, become an officer, and vote on trialist applications.
