Foundation of Outfit418

The outfit was formed during the early days of Planetside2 after the official release by iRBlue and ph0nph0n around the area of Scarred Mesa Skydock battling against the Vanu Sovereignty in both defence and attack. The name Outfit418 can be divided in two parts. The first part Outfit is coming from the outfits that players for as a guild or clan, the second part 418 only the founders of the outfit knows what it really stands for but many theories have been laid forward.

Chain of command

Recruit: The newest recruits have this rank. We are taking in all who wants to join, beginners or pros, it does not matter.

Grunt: The basic soldier in our ranks. These are the people that have shown the ability to follow orders and make up the majority of the members in 418.

Officers: Those who are making sure that the outfit is a well oiled machine by taking care of all the organisation of 418, setting up events and running the platoon and squads during play.

Warlord: The founders of the outfit and the people with the final word.

Platoon play

We are running a platoon or a squad most of the time. We are using different strategies depending on how much resistance we have. Either we move as a whole and letting the squad target different objectives in the bases or we split up the platoon and letting the squads attack or defend different bases. Most of the time we are letting the players deal with the opposition forces as they see fit but sometime you need to get everyone to pull exactly the same thing to make a counter attack or when we are making a galaxy drop to relocate and arrive in force to change then tide of the battle. We are letting everybody trying out to be a squad leader or platoon leader and at the same time passing on advice on how you can lead better.

Lonewolfing and small group play

We do not frown upon playing alone or in a small squad. You need variation to get your head clear in preparation of the coordination needed for platoon. Sometimes you just get an urge to frag something or someone.

Marauders/Delta Squad

Delta Squad or The Marauders is a spec ops team with the best players in 418. They are send on special missions that would need more than 1 normal squad to complete and are the fastest moving squad from the whole outfit. "Fast, Strong, Teamwork" is their motto! Usually they go against a much bigger enemy and still win the fight.

Betsie

Betsie is their official Outfit 418 mascot. Betsie is the Sunderer or Galaxy controlled by iRBlue. It was mentioned by iRBlue that the Galaxy with Grey Forest Camo looked like a Cow and as a result christened Betsie. The term is now an in-joke of the Outfit and is mentioned daily.
