Phalanx Turret
A Phalanx Turret is a general use term for any fixed defensive turret present in the bases. These appear on Towers and on walls in the main facilities, there are certain exceptions however certain bases will have special scaffold towers with lift systems on which individual turrets will appear. These occur in the highest concentration around the main facilities (excluding bio labs). They are designed to be and are a serious threat to any attacking force. They are destroyable and on average 2-3 shots from a main tank weapon or rocket launcher will destroy them. They can be hacked by infiltrators. They appear in three types.

A major threat to any airborne vehicle, the rate of fire can quickly destroy any threat with a steady stream of flak. Any large airborne assault will be severely hindered by just a few of these turrets at work. They can do small amounts of damage to infantry and vehicles but due to the accuracy drop-off and small amount of damage to anything other than aircraft the threat is limited.
[edit] Spear Phalanx Turret (Anti-Vehicle Turret)
Highly effective against any armour in sight. They deal roughly the same amount of damage as a main battle tank (MBT) main cannon. Accurate and highly damaging they are a major threat to almost all attackers. Against armour the high damage and accuracy coupled with the small profile can make them difficult to deal with. Although danger is limited slightly to infantry a direct or near hit will still kill instantly however due to the low rate of fire large numbers have relatively little to fear. Aircraft will take large amounts of damage but the turrets have a limited firing arc and so are unable to engage any but the lowest targets.

These are one of the rarest turrets as they do not appear on towers as the others do. Highly effective against infantry they do little damage to either armour or aircraft. Essentially this turret fires at a high rate although suffers from inaccuracy resulting in a scattered shot that creates an area of denial for any infantry.
