Control Nodes are capture points for hexes. Each territory defined by the hexes has one or more Control Nodes. To capture a territory, an empire must contest a Control Node. Nodes can be captured by simply being in the vicinity of the node on foot or inside a vehicle. Once a control node changes ownership, the territory enters a contested state and starts a race to gain control. Progress bars appear for each empire. The capture rate is determined by the number of Control Nodes that are captured as well as the influence of adjacent territory. Once the progress bar is filled, the victorious empire will gain ownership of all the Control Nodes in the territory and all the resources associated with that territory are awarded to that empire.
