Drop Pods are a single occupancy vehicles which are used to deploy a player into battle. They drop straight down to the planet's surface from high altitude and have minimal steering capability. Landing directly on a player or vehicle will destroy the target. They can be used while in a Squad, when choosing a Respawn location you can select a squad member as a drop location. The Instant Action system also deploys via drop pod. Be warned, however, that Instant Action drop pod locations are very rarely near allied combatants.

PlanetSide

In the original PlanetSide, Drop Pods were only available from the Sanctuary via HART shuttle. They had no steering capability or the ability to land on and destroy targets.
