The Torch of Liberty is a small New Conglomerate outfit on Planetside 2, based in Connery. We're a pretty laid back group that draws from people of all factions. As a low competitive outfit, our members believe the only people they need to compete with are themselves. We see our fellow NC as allies and friends, not groups of people that we need to one up. Likewise, our enemies are our friends...
... that we shoot at, because they are not our allies. Though we have a casual mentality, we do play hard. We compete with ourselves and strive to become better, not for the sake of being the very best (that no one ever was), but because we believe that getting better and growing as a player is fun. We stress knowing how to play the game, and we do our best to encourage every member to explore new play styles, as well as help them gain an understanding of where they want to be in the battlefield and what their role is; these two things are essential to being a good player, as well as having fun. But more important than being a good player is being a good team mate. Working in a squad, working in pairs, doing your job well, and following orders. That's the bread and butter of The Torch of Liberty; our coordinated squads built on trust, peerless brotherhood, and more than a little homoeroticism.
But be warned. Like our dear friends The Bastards (and their glorious leader Ace), we of TToL are also a bunch of bastards. We can be polite, but we probably won't be. We curse, we aren't particularly respectful of your person, your looks, your character, your sexuality, your race, your opinions, and will most certainly suggest vastly improbable things regarding your lineage. Essentially, if you are a sensitive person, you may like to play with us, but you might not want to be on the same TeamSpeak server as us.
A bit of Background:
The Torch of Liberty was founded in the glorious day of October 7th, 2013, when two exceedingly angry fellows decided they would SHOW THEM ALL. Though since then, their rage has (mostly, sorta kinda) subsided, the outfit yet remains. I am the founder, Johnny. I was there on that day, mad as hell, with my good friend Connor. Connor is the Remus to my Romulus, he really is.
When we first created The Torch of Liberty, we just wanted a small outfit to fight against the VS overpop at the time. We did not anticipate what it would become: a beacon of light, which washes all over your face and body, cleansing your mind of your fascist or technocratic beliefs. Many of our number are reformed zealots, a good portion were conscripted as children by a certain regime (then rescued from their slavery by our merry band), while many other members are just good ol' boys who were lucky enough to be born free. But despite our different roots, we all know what's important; liberty, freedom, democracy, good guns, and american food.
