The Proton II PPA Cannon fires orbs of plasma effective against soft targets. The projectiles are slow moving making it more effective against big, slow targets. Although the in-game description says the weapon is effective against armor, the low damage and low rate of fire means it takes a long time to destroy even lightly armored vehicles like the Lightning.
